Colonialism, Imperialism, Globalization
When it comes to imperialist attack, it is of course not possible for those who are attacked to meet this attack with 'a blessing'. As a matter of fact, after the first imperialist expansion, there were numerous rebellions against the devastating consequences of the attack. Since history is written by those who attack, the story of those who are attacked is either not properly told or glossed over. The most well-known of these rebellions was in the 18th century. The slave revolution in San Domingo at the end of the century. Later, the Mexican revolution in the early 1900s and the Cuban revolution in the late 1950s should be considered as a continuation of the same line.
The Bolshevik and Chinese revolutions and the national people's liberation movements after the Second World War are, in the final analysis, nothing but a reaction to the polarization brought about by capitalism. It is not a coincidence that these revolutions broke out around the capitalist world system. This is not the place to discuss the reasons why the Soviet system collapsed before the end of the century and why China moved towards capitalism under the rhetoric of 'social market economy'. What is certain is that the colonial period, which started with the adventure of Christopher Columbus and continued for approximately 450 years, disappeared into history in approximately two decades following the struggle of colonial peoples and the second inter-imperialist war. Although the peoples of the world who have escaped the direct version of colonialism have emerged with the claim of sharing in the wealth of the world, the situation has not essentially changed today. Colonialism was liquidated, but this did not mean getting rid of imperialism. It is not possible for capitalism and imperialism to continue to exist and for the rest of the world to become like the imperialist centers. And those who led popular movements against colonialism seemed to believe that their situation would improve despite capitalism and that they could "be included at the table"...
