Sociology and History
"Sociology and History", for the first time in Turkey, tries to explain the Problem of Method in its real dimensions in social sciences in general and in sociology in particular. Doğan Ergun, whose main aim is to indicate the nature of objective reality and to criticize the dogmas about the method, emphasizes in this book the importance of applying the "method in social research according to the principle of historical specificity of societies" in terms of getting rid of dogmas and improving scientific understanding. Such an approach prioritizes concrete research and concrete solutions above all else. In the words of the author:
"Because within these researches and analyses, many levels, stages, integrity, orientation concepts will be formed, as well as the concepts of function and structure. But the meaning and burden of all these concepts will only emerge and be evaluated within the dialectical movement.
Similar concepts cover similar facts. However, trying to fit unresearched facts into the molds of concepts that show other, researched facts means not being able to go any further than empty chatter."
