Crime and Punishment - Single Volume - World Classics Book Description Dostoyevsky, one of the greatest of Russian literature, was born in Moscow in 1821. He spent his life with his loves, marriages, European travels, passion for gambling and financial difficulties, and conflicts with Turgenev. Poor university students, women forced into prostitution by their families, the careless and empty lives of petty bourgeois, the fears created by the police state... (From the Promotional Bulletin)
