Origin of Species
The Origin of Species, first published in London in 1859, is one of the books that changed the scientific and cultural history of our world. The Origin of Species, which emerged as a result of Darwin's 20-year research and explains the mechanisms of evolution, provides a new perspective not only on biological sciences, but also on all natural sciences and on all human culture, from literature to philosophy.
It was a turning point in man's quest to understand the world.
This translation of The Origin of Species was made from the second edition, in which Darwin corrected several minor typographical errors in the first edition.
“Over time, the Darwinian revolution will take its place safely and comfortably in the mind and heart of every educated person in the world, but today, more than a century after Darwin's death, we have still not fully digested his statements full of mind-blowing inferences.”
–Daniel Dennett, Darwin's Dangerous Idea-
“Darwinian theory not only has superior explanatory power; The economy of its explanation has a powerful elegance, a poetic beauty that surpasses even the world's most haunting origin myths.”
–Richard Dawkins, The River Flowing from Heaven-
“No scientific revolution can be compared to Darwin's discovery in terms of changing our previous habits and opinions... Darwinian evolution has profoundly revolutionized our perception of our own existence and essence, and similar questions addressed by science: Who are we? How did we get here? What is our relationship with other creatures?”
–Carl Zimmer, Evolution: The Success of an Idea-
