Writing Against the Cruelty of the Time - Prose 3
The book we compiled under the name Writing Against the Cruelty of Time brings together Behçet Necatigil's writings, interviews, and investigation responses that were not included in his books during his lifetime, but remained in periodicals and yearbooks. The articles, speeches and conferences previously collected in two volumes named Prose 1 and Prose 2 have been completed with the book in your hands.
A feature of this book is that it begins with Necatigil's writings from the Zonguldak period, in which he said, "There is a sea, there is a city, but there is also another sea, another city, another fish" and ends with the answers he gave to investigations until his last days. In other words, it contains every line of the poet that can be said to have been left behind between 1941 and 1979 - reflecting his literary personality, his translatorship, his views on the literary environment around awards and polemics, and his poetics. Another feature is that it shows how the poet's maturity in the writings of Küçük Muharrir was crowned with the "lyrical prose" called "Bir Adamın delusions" in the Yeni Zonguldak newspaper.
Writing Against the Cruelty of Time is a new reason to commemorate and understand Necatigil on the fortieth anniversary of his death.
